Electronic Database of Regulatory Municipal Property Transactions in the Sofia Municipality (2004)

The main goal of this project is to create an electronic database of regulatory municipal property transactions and (upon the approval of the city council) rented out municipal property within the Sofia Municipality.

The database will contain systematic, detailed information about regulatory municipal property transactions. Additionally, a web-based application will be constructed to grant public access to the database.

Such a database is expected not only to provide information about objective statistical categories of municipal property, but also to shed light on the preferred ways of managing the property and the levels of transparency throughout the whole process.

Increasing accountability among municipal officials and administrators involved in settling municipal property transactions and limiting municipal property transactions corruption practices are only a small part of the expected results.

The actual work on the project is being carried out in cooperation between ACCESS-Sofia Foundation, the Sofia ombudsman and the Sofia Municipality. Both the Sofia ombudsman and the chairman of the City Council have already expressed their commitment to the project.

The project is supported by Open Society Foundation.
