Places of Worship: Centre of Ethnocultural
Cohabitation (1997-1998)
The main project
aim was to revive the
history and
the memories of the
past and to turn the public attention to the values beyond power and
interests, politics and
self-interest.
The project activities targeted high school and university teachers,
academics, students, etc.
The project built on
returning to the roots of the human nature,
unaffected by power and interest for the purpose of implying respect,
tolerance and mutual understanding. A means of promoting tolerance was a
photo
exhibition
organized within the project. It was displayed in
the towns of
Kurdjali, Kroumovgrad and Ivailovgrad and
presented
places of worship.
A
follow-up of the project was the publication The Worship Places.
Places of worship in the region of Kurjali
(an
illustrated guide book). The book shows a multifarious gallery of pictures
depicting the every-day life of the people in the region of Kurjali, their
customs and beliefs. |
