The collection of articles offers an analysis of different aspects and contexts in which the election results in Macedonia can be viewed. A presentation of the coverage of the elections and the image of Macedonia in the Bulgarian print media can be also found in the book.

The authors try to clear up certain misconceptions since many international analysts come to the Balkans with preconceived ideas about what’s going on and what approach they should take.

This Paper does not qualify anything as “good” or “evil”. Nor does it examine Doomsday scenarios; it sounds even optimistic at times – in other words, it might fail to meet many of the Western reader’s expectations. This Paper tries to cite facts and to identify tendencies – in a non-fanatic and sober way. It is an effort to present the “other” point of view and does not claim to have a monopoly of the truth. And it also tries to call a spade a spade – something which Western readers will not always find in texts dealing with the Balkans.
