Who We Are

ACCESS Association is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit organization, established in May 1992. In 2002 it was registered under the Non-Government Organizations Law under the name ACCESS – Sofia Foundation.

 

 

Mission:

The Foundation's priority objective is to promote mutual tolerance and better understanding of the cultural diversity in Bulgaria and the Balkans. ACCESS consistently works for the development of a network facilitating free exchange of expertise and information, and establishment of contacts among Bulgarian and foreign NGOs, especially from the Balkan countries.

 

Activities:  

“ACCESS – Sofia” Foundation implements projects, conducts surveys and analyses, organizes courses, trains interns and publishes books and periodicals in four key areas:

- Balkan dialogue and regional cooperation;
- Intercultural dialogue and education;
- Civil society building;
- Freedom of speech and media.

The workdays are usually busy….

Journalists from 8 Balkan countries and the Minister of Energy and Energy Resourses of Republic of Bulgaria, Milko Kovatchev, at a meeting within the Study trip to Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant Initiative (18-22 May 2004), organized by ACCESS - May 20th 2004, MEER building, Sofia.


Journalists from Albania and Stanimir Iltchev, Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the National Movement Simeon the Second, at a meeting within their visit in Bulgaria (19-22 November 2003), organized by ACCESS and the Albanian Media Institute - November 20th 2003, Mirror Hall in the Parliament of Bulgaria, Sofia.

At a media training course within Voices of Exclusion – Minority Empowerment through Media project, led by Boryana Dimitrova - mid June 2003, IREX ProMedia, Sofia.




At the Non-Bias Journalism in a Multicultural Society Seminar carried out within ACCESS’ project Non-Bias Journalism in a Multicultural Community (2001-2002) – November 25th – December 1st 2001, Rodina Hotel, Sofia.
